Dr. Xu Mingqi is a professor of International Economics and the Director of European Studies Center at Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences, where he served as deputy director of Institute of World Economy during 2005-2013 and Editor in Chief of Social Sciences and Academic Quarterly in 1998-2001. He is now also the president of Shanghai Institute for European Studies and Secretary – General of Shanghai Coordination Center for FTZ Studies. He is also guest professor of Fudan University and Shanghai University of Finance and Economics. His main research areas are in the theory international economics, international finance, international political economy, European Economy, monetary economics and monetary policy, and China’s economic system reforms. Dr. Xu graduated from Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences and holds MA and Ph. D degrees in international Economics from SASS and did post doctoral research at Harvard University with Harvard-Yeching scholarship during 1995-1996. Previously he was awarded scholarship by Chinese government to conduct research at University of Western Ontario in Canada. He publishes extensively in international economic theory and policy issues both in Chinese and English. He is frequently invited to give public lectures and consultancy to government officials and business executives of both domestic and multinational corporations for international economic issues. Many of his monographs and reports have been awarded with excellent academic prizes by both Chinese government and academic associations.

Dr. Peter Roell

 

Dr. Peter Roell has been President of the Institute for Strategic, Political, Security and Economic Consultancy (ISPSW) in Berlin since January 2006. His prior post was Senior Advisor for Foreign and Security Policy at the Permanent Representation of the Federal Republic of Germany to the EU in Brussels. While in Germany, Dr. Roell served for the German Government as Director of the Asia-Pacific, Latin America and Africa (Sub-Sahara) Department and at German embassies in the Near and Middle East and in Asia.

 

Dr. Roell studied sinology and political sciences at the universities of Bonn, Taipei and Heidelberg. He gained his Ph.D. from the Ruprecht-Karls-University in Heidelberg.

 

Dr. Roell is an ancien of the NATO Defense College in Rome and the Federal Academy for Security Policy (BAKS) in Berlin.

Yossef Bodansky currently concentrates on research, professional writing and international consulting. Mr. Bodansky was the Director of the Congressional Task Force on Terrorism and Unconventional Warfare at the U.S. House of Representatives between 1988 and 2004, and stayed on as a special adviser to Congress till January 2009. In the mid-1980s, he acted as a senior consultant for the U.S. Department of Defense and the Department of State. Beforehand, Mr. Bodansky was a visiting scholar and a professorial lecturer with the Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies. Mr. Bodansky has also been the Director of Research at the International Strategic Studies Association [ISSA], as well as a Senior Editor for the Defense & Foreign Affairs group of publications, since 1983. He is the author of eleven books – including Bin Laden: The Man Who Declared War on America (New York Times No.1 Bestseller & Washington Post No.1 Bestseller), The Secret History of the Iraq War (New York Times Bestseller & Foreign Affairs Magazine Bestseller), and Chechen Jihad: Al Qaeda’s Training Ground and the Next Wave of Terror – and hundreds of articles, book chapters and Congressional reports. Mr. Bodansky is a Director at the Prague Society for International Cooperation, and serves on the Board of the Global Panel Foundation and several other institutions worldwide.

Baroness (Caroline) Cox was created a Life Peer in 1982 and was a deputy speaker of the House of Lords from 1985 to 2005. She was Founder Chancellor of Bournemouth University; Chancellor of Liverpool Hope University from 2006-2013 and is an Hon. Vice President of the Royal College of Nursing. She was a founder Trustee of MERLIN [Medical Emergency Relief International] and is Chief Executive of HART [Humanitarian Aid Relief Trust].
Caroline Cox has been honoured with the Commander Cross of the Order of Merit of the Republic of Poland; the Wilberforce Award; the International Mother Teresa Award from the All India Christian Council; the Mkhitar Gosh Medal conferred by the President of the Republic of Armenia; and the anniversary medal presented by Lech Walesa. She has been awarded an Honorary Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons of England and Honorary Doctorates by universities in the United Kingdom, the United States of America, the Russian Federation and Armenia.
Her humanitarian work takes her to conflict and post-conflict zones, including the Armenian enclave of Nagorno Karabakh, Sudan, South Sudan, Nigeria, Uganda, the Karen, Karenni, Shan and Chin peoples of Burma. Previously, she visited communities suffering from conflict in Indonesia, helping to establish the International Islamic Christian Organisation for Reconciliation and Reconstruction (IICORR) with late former President Abdurrhaman Wahid. She has visited North Korea to promote Parliamentary initiatives and medical programmes.
Recent publications include Cox’s Book of Modern Saints and Martyrs (with Catherine Butcher); This Immoral Trade: Slavery in the 21st Century, with John Marks and The Very Stones Cry Out, The Persecuted Church: Pain, Passion and Praise, with Benedict Rogers.
